چکیده

In this paper, we deal with the problem of spatially and temporally registering multiple video sequences of a non-rigid dynamical scene. For example, registering multiple videos of a fountain taken from different vantage points. Our approach is not based on frame-by-frame or volume-by-volume registration. Instead, we use the dynamic texture framework, which models the non-rigidity of the scene with linear dynamical systems encoding both the dynamics and the appearance of the scene. Our key contribution is to observe that a certain appearance matrix extracted from the dynamic texture model is invariant with respect to the non-rigid motions of the scene, thus it can be directly used to register the video sequences. Our framework is applicable to both synchronized videos as well as videos containing temporal lags. In the latter case, we also propose a method to synthesize novel sequences without the temporal lags. We then show how our model can be extended to the case where there is camera motion in the video sequences. The final result is a simple and flexible method that achieves state-ofthe-art performance with a significant reduction in computational complexity.

Dynamical Behavior of a Rigid Body with One Fixed Point (Gyroscope). Basic Concepts and Results. Open Problems: a Review

The study of the dynamic behavior of a rigid body with one fixed point (gyroscope) has a long history. A number of famous mathematicians and mechanical engineers have devoted enormous time and effort to clarify the role of dynamic effects on its movement (behavior) – stable, periodic, quasi-periodic or chaotic. The main objectives of this review are: 1) to outline the characteristic features of...

Overcoming Parallax and Sampling Density Issues in Image Mosaicing of Non-Planar Scenes

Image mosaicing constructs a wide field-of-view result from multiple source frames. In order to ensure a perceptually correct result, mosaicing typically requires either a planar or near-planar scene, parallax-free camera motion between source frames, or a dense sampling of the scene. When these conditions are not satisfied, various artifacts may result. A novel mosaicing approach is introduced...

Adding Dynamic Smoothing to Mixture Mosaicing Synthesis

Recent works in sound mosaicing synthesis [1], [2] have proposed algorithms that permit instantaneous mixtures of several sources atoms, based on sparse signal representation techniques. We propose combining l1 regularization with linear dynamical smoothing as in the Kalman filter (also in [3], [4]) to promote desired transitions between atoms, while adapting the generic approach to the mixture...

Tom VERCAUTEREN le 25 janvier 2008 Image Registration and Mosaicing for Dynamic In Vivo Fibered Confocal Microscopy

Classical confocal microscopy can be used to obtain high-resolution images of cells in tissue samples or cell cultures. Translation of this technology for in vivo applications can be achieved by using optical fibers and miniature optics. Ultimately, fibered confocal microscopy should enable clinicians and biologists to perform what can be referred to as an optical biopsy : a real-time histologi...
